Stage 5 (30. June 2023) Mauthen - Hermagor

The fifth stage begins for everyone on the Gailtal cycle path. After about 15 easy kilometers, the 900-metre-long ascent to the Straniger alpine hut begins. Then it goes up one last time to Italy – here you can stop at the Lanzen alpine hut.

The way back to Austria still has a stretch of pushing in store – e-bikers with good riding technique can complete most of the climb in the saddle. The first part of the descent towards the Rattendorfer alpine hut is also tricky.

Shortly after the Rattendorfer alpine hut, the groups separate – Classic follows the alpine trail downhill and reaches the destination in Hermagor on the cycle path. Challenge traverses slightly uphill to the Tröpolacher alpine hut and enjoys the descent on the Flowtrail MEX-Line before it also goes to the finish in Hermagor.
